About the role

As the Business Development Manager – Small Business & Commercial, you will manage and grow the third party small business and commercial lending portfolio for Bank Intermediaries by fostering profitable relationships with brokers and aggregators.

More specifically you will

  • Strategic application  and continual review of brokers within your portfolio who have the potential to deliver a significant proportion of business in line with the Bank's strategic direction.
  • Work with Home Lending BDM’s to develop and implement quarterly business plans to achieve the desired Small Business lending disbursements and growth targets.
  • Responsible to facilitate education programs to brokers and aggregators to drive industry’s diversification agenda including upskilling brokers to write SME transactions
  • Monitor and analyse growth, sales, service, credit quality, and expense results for the portfolio and identify and implement corrective actions where performance gaps exist within budget targets.
  • Work closely with Business Customer teams to ensure broker referrals and overall proposition is delivered to broker and end customer.
  • Provide guidance, training and coaching to brokers on bank credit policy and submission requirements to drive effective conversion rates and quality submissions Assess opportunities within the portfolio in terms of the Bank risk appetite and risk management to develop effective partnerships with brokers in portfolio.
  • Proactively identify risks associated with portfolios and implement actions and improvements to remedy, complying with industry code of practice and legislative requirements.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Strong experience in business lending including the ability to demonstrate financial analysis,  understanding and application of risk analysis, cash flow analysis, evaluation and analysis of profit projections, property valuation, credit mediation, security requirements and credit checking.
  • Account management or business development experience with a successful track record in account or territory management in business/credit lending
  • Experience dealing with finance brokers, understanding of the aggregators and intermediaries landscape and existing broker/aggregator relationships
  • Confidence and demonstrated experience with facilitation of training programs and presentations to medium size groups.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of banking and financial industry legislation and regulations, with an understanding of Personal & Business Banking, General Insurance and Life products and processes
  • Desirable – Cert 4 in Home Lending & Cert 4 Commercial Lending
