The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) (DVCA) is a member of The University’s senior executive, and is responsible for the University’s commitment to providing high-quality teaching and learning, and enhancing the UQ student experience.

The Student Services Directorate is part of the Student Affairs Division, which also comprises the Health Service and UQ Student Employability Centre. The Student Employability Centre is custodian of the UQ Student Employability Strategy, and coordinates and promotes the distinctive features of the UQ student experience including the ‘UQ Employability Award’, leadership, global mobility and undergraduate research experiences, and provides supports to enable students to translate, articulate and transfer these experiences into the workplace.

The objective of Student Services is to provide a range of services and support functions that enhance the student experience and assist in ensuring student success. 

The role

The position will have a significant role in supporting international students’ academic and social transition to UQ. This will include working with the Program Lead to coordinate the International Student Supervision Program and to monitor academic and welfare concerns of international students registered with the program as well as arranging engagement activities for this cohort.

The person

The ideal applicant for this positon will have experience in supporting the needs of international students in their transition to Australia and higher education.

Applicants should have experience in designing and delivering engagement and support activities or programs for young international students.

Applicants should possess an undergraduate degree, or an equivalent combination of at least three-four years relevant experience and/or education/training.

The ideal applicant will have excellent administrative skills and enjoy working in a vibrant and busy environment, focussed on student success.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, continuing appointment at HEW Level 6. The remuneration package will be in the range $75,957.07 - $81,714.50 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $88,869.77 - $95,605.97 p.a.).
