Ambulance Victoria (AV) is seeking an experienced, professional Project Manager to join their Operational Improvement Division in order to lead and provide strategic direction in the delivery of the Ambulance Victoria Emergency Management Operations Communications (AVEMOC) project.  This is a fixed-term, full-time position until April 2020, based at AV's Blackburn North business centre.

As the Project Manager - Operational Projects, a key focus of this role is to establish the work streams that achieve the agreed visions of the project, incorporating changes occurring in the emergency management sector and communication industry environments.

About the role

Reporting to the Operations Program Manager, the main duties of the role include (but are not limited to);

  • Project managing the delivery of Ambulance Victoria's Emergency Management Operations Communications (AVEMOC) sufficient to meet the needs of the Executive Director Operational Communications;
  • Providing direction with regard to AVEMOC related activities and managing projects using the AV Project Management Framework and associated templates and procedures, to meet desired time, budget, compliance and quality objectives;
  • Providing leadership and coordination on emergency management operational communications issues (operations, technology, commercial and policy related);
  • Managing day-to-day operational aspects of the project, including contractor oversight, account management and timely reporting;
  • Creating detailed project plans, including a project timeline and a proposed budget for approval by key stakeholders;
  • Gathering, analysing and interpreting data to support project activities and objectives; and
  • Developing strong working relationships with project stakeholders and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, contractors, suppliers and government agency counterparts in relation to planning, program management and support functions.

About you

The successful applicant will hold a Program/Project Management qualification and have demonstrated experience and proven skills in managing complex and/or high risk projects with multiple stakeholders.  They will have ‘hands on' expertise in managing complex programs of work through the full project management life cycle and will be familiar in project management methodologies.

High level planning and organising skills will be required in order to successfully deliver complex project outcomes within specific timeframes and strategic thinking, well developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills will be required in order to identify issues and risks and determine appropriate courses of action.

A sound working knowledge of communications or information communication infrastructure would be advantageous, as would experience working in the public sector, in a project management capacity.

Finally, you will be an excellent communicator in all respects and will be comfortable liaising with key internal and external stakeholders and building relationships.

The successful candidate may be required to undergo relevant security checks, such as a police record check.
