Biripi Aboriginal Children's Services have two services for children and young persons living in Out of Home Care situations; one of these services is located in Taree (BACS) and the other is located in Inverell (Walanbaa Gaayili).

Biripi Aboriginal Children's Service and Walanbaa Gaayili Out of Home Care Service provides Foster Care Support Services to Foster & Kinship/Relative Carers and is an inclusive not-for profit organisation that provides a high quality fostering service that meets the range of needs of children and young people in out-of-home care.

About the role

Biripi ACMC is looking for an enthusiastic Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander person to fill a fixed term 3 month Caseworker role in our busy Childrens Service in Inverell.

The role will include the following tasks:

  • Place, support and monitor Aboriginal children and young people placed in our Out of Home Care Program, managing crisis situations & promoting safe & adequate care & protection in accordance with our legal responsibilities.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate clients care and needs using a case-management approach.
  • Develop individual client care-plans in consultation with clients, carers and their family members / other significant person and BACS Co-ordinator.
  • Liaise with other relevant service providers / health care and educational professionals as appropriate.
  • Preparation and co-ordination of annual case-conferences unless required more frequently.
  • Quarterly review of approved case-plans in consultation with child/carer/natural parents health and educational professionals.
  • Supervision and co-ordination of natural family and significant other contact visits in accordance with approved case-plan.
  • Monthly home visits to spend time with child and complete monthly supervision with carers.
  • Provide monthly written reports to the BACS Co-ordinator on activities undertaken, results and any issues identified.
  • Completion of data entry of MDS for the OOHC Program on a weekly basis.
  • Act as a referral, support and advocate for eligible clients to other relevant services if required.
  • Maintain clients records, reports and other clerical work with accurate documentation and in accordance with Accreditation and OOHC Benchmark Standards.
