Presales Engineer

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hungry presales engineer who will partner with one account manager who is focussed on expanding business within assigned telecom provider customers such as Vodafone or Optus. You will share the same KPIs as the account manager with a typical day involving travelling to where the account manager has booked an meeting to meet a stakeholder, listening and gathering customer requirements, doing a presentation, setting up a Proof of Concept and working with the sales person to help in a technical capacity so he can close a deal. We are looking for some sales focussed, hands on and gets involved in some of the post sales activities to ensure the customer is using the tool so further deals can be closed later on. Our clients customers and users are highly technical so you'll be required to be proficient and articulate in technical aspects with experience across mobile networks or the ability to learn this aspect (we'll expect you do some research for the interview so you know the basics). We are looking for a candidate that is looking to grow in to this role and be with our client at least a few years. 


On Offer

  • A competitive salary - Up to $205K OTE + car allowance 
    • Base up to $164k with $41K commission and $18K car allowance

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on responding to customer requirements which may consist of RFIs and RFPs.
  • Creating opportunity specific presentations and deliver them.
  • Work on demos and proof of concepts
  • Engage is customer facing workshops
  • Work with support and engineering to address key customer issues
  • Deliver training and technical engagements
  • Work in a team of Sales Engineering and Account Managers.
  • Up to 50% travel


Must have skills

  • Strong TCP/IP knowledge and experience 
  • Strong presentation and customer facing skills.
  • Cisco IP experience with certifications  a plus.
  • Circa 5 years + experience in Sales Engineering.


We'd also be keen to some of the following:

  • Experience with 3G/4G Mobile networks
  • System Administration experience in Linux/Unix environment
  • Ability to understand packets using tools like Wireshark.
  • VoLTE & nFV/Vitualization knowledge is a plus.
  • Scripting knowledge in Perl/Python is a plus.
  • Virtual Platform knowledge is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
