About the opportunity

That's why, we're looking for a full time Caseworker committed to supporting children, young people and families in our Brighter Futures program. Brighter Futures delivers voluntary targeted intervention services to help build strong well-functioning families where children can have improved wellbeing outcomes and enjoy the best start to life. We believe that supporting families before a crisis improves family resilience and reduces harm to children.

As a Caseworker, you will work closely with our families to identify their strengths and needs, to formulate goals that are child focused and provide assistance to achieve these goals for the safety and wellbeing of children. Embracing the Uniting values of compassion, imagination, boldness and respect, facilitate and participate in the development and review of family's case plans and provide primary casework and case management whilst you advocate on behalf of our families and link them to ongoing support to develop their skills in practical parenting/childcare, home and life management.

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in social sciences and/or other relevant work experience.  
  • A minimum of three years of casework experience with children, adolescents and families;
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging and working with Aboriginal, CALD and Non-Aboriginal children and families in a way that is culturally responsive and appropriate.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage families with high and complex needsand work in partnership with them to achieve their goals and address safety concerns using a variety of intervention strategies from a range of theoretical models.
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection issues and the ability to identify and address these issues with families
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct family assessments using a strengths based approach
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours to meet the needs of families required
  • Ability to work independently and as an effective member of a multifunction team
  • Current drivers licence and willingness to transport families
