The Principal Youth and Family Practitioner is a role within Metropolitan Aboriginal Youth & Family Services (MAYFS) and is accountable to the Manager, MAYFS for: Providing high quality information and practice advice to staff to improve justice outcomes for Aboriginal young people; identifying practice quality issues in partnership with staff, Team Leaders and Manager, proposing effective ways to address issues and lead the implementation of practice improvements; informing and contributing to departmental practice policy, and practice development programs/initiatives; contributing to the learning and development of staff, including leading the provision of training to underpin case management and client focused service delivery; enhancing MAYFS capacity to provide a high standard of practice through quality assurance, advice and support on restorative practice and case management across the MAYFS teams and supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of a restorative practice and family inclusive service delivery model for Aboriginal clients.

Essential Minimum Qualifications: An appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers. 

Special Conditions: Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a Background Screening and National Criminal History Record Check (NCHRC) prior to being employed and every three. Some out of hours work intrastate and interstate travel, involving overnight absences will be required. Must hold a current Australian issued Driver's License (equivalent to minimum class 'C' - South Australian), which must be maintained. Incumbent must be willing and able to drive all government vehicles within their license classification during the course of their duties.
