WMQ's Cooper House (Chermside) is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the team in enhancing an activities program to our much loved residents. The position is a permanent part time position at approximately 20 hours per week working along side another Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinator to offer choice and activities to our residents on Thursdays 0830-1630, Fridays 0830-1630 and Saturdays 10- 1500.

 

Cooper House is close to being a fully registered Eden facility where the resident is at the centre of all we do. If you have experience in the care of the resident with dementia and are passionate in your care of the elderly, please come by to meet us for the opportunity to work with a dynamic nursing team with high standards. The successful applicant will have a passion for serving the elders in our community and a commitment to, and basic understanding of working within the Eden philosophy (learn more about Eden at http://www.edeninoznz.com.au/html/s01_home/home.asp). This will enable you to join our journey towards Eden accreditation. Previous experience in the aged care sector will be highly regarded. Musical talent would be desirable but not essential. 

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Align one's workplace behaviour in accordance with the WMQ Charter, Values and Mission of the organisation
  • To assist residents to attain and maintain their optimum degree of independence and quality of life.
  • Within the scope of qualifications and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, assess, plan, implement and regularly evaluate a range of innovative lifestyle and activity programs to meet the specific needs of the residents and their families, in order to facilitate participation and positive outcomes.
  • Prepare and lead individual and group social and recreational activities encompassing the cultural, emotional and spiritual needs of the residents.
  • Assist in the education, co-ordination and supervision of volunteers
  • Identify and respond to individual needs of residents.
  • Liaise with appropriate staff members, service providers and relatives regarding resident care and progress.
  • Document/report ongoing progress of residents and programs.
  • Coordinate, facilitate and supervise programs for the residents with a community involvement focus.
  • Ensure the ongoing compliance of the Leisure and Lifestyle team with workplace health and safety requirements, requirements of the aged care sector and organisational policies and procedures, and promote continuous quality improvement processes.
  • Attend and participate in regular meetings with other Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinators to facilitate the sharing of resources.
  • Attend, participate in and/or facilitate resident meetings as required.
  • Order and maintain necessary equipment in line with budgetary requirements in conjunction with the Local Manager.Undertake any other duties as reasonably directed by the Local Manager.
