Make a difference to Young people, Connect - Empower - Change, Full Time, Fixed Term Contract end 30th June 2019 (with possible extension).

We have an exciting opportunity in our Parramatta office for a dedicated and enthusiastic Community Facilitator to support the CREATE team to deliver programs and services to children and young people with a care experience and advocate for systemic change.

Primary Purpose of the Community Facilitator

This role will inspire connection, empowerment and change through fun and creative events, by providing leadership opportunities for children and young people who are members of clubCREATE or are Young Consultants, and by working to create positive change within the out-of-home care sector.

Community Facilitators are responsible for improving the lives of children and young people with a care experience outlined in the organisations strategic plan goals. Community Facilitators are guided by the organisations Mission, to  Connect to Empower to Change. They do this through ensuring that CREATEs systems for connecting children and young people to clubCREATE are maintained and new members recruited; and facilitating connection through activities and programs.

Position Context and Specific Job Requirements

Community Facilitators are change agents who facilitate the voices of children and young people through active participation and engagement. This enables the organisation to advocate to key decision makers effectively to change the system for the better.

The successful applicants will have:

  • Degree qualifications in social work, human services, youth work or relevant field
  • Current Working With Children Check
  • Community event planning and delivery experience
  • A full NSW drivers licence

To succeed in the role you will have the demonstrated ability to:

  • Effectively engage and communicate with children and young people using a variety of approaches including telephone and social media
  • Organise and deliver community events
  • Actively contribute in a team environment
  • Show individual leadership and initiative
  • Be task oriented and display well developed time management skills
  • Effectively communicate one on one and deliver presentations to groups
  • Be willing to travel for work in regional NSW
